“[Instead of the usual, traditional question] ‘What is wrong with this person?', [our] psychotherapy is based on different questions. It asks ‘What is right with this person? What ways of being with themselves and others, and with the world, will lead them to the greatest zest and enthusiasm in their lives? How can we move in that direction?”

Lawrence LeShan
Cancer as a Turning Point

Five-day Residential Cancer Workshop Retreats

Introduced by Lawrence LeShan, Ph.D.,
author of Cancer as a Turning Point

Presented by Ruth Bolletino, Ph.D. and Mary Bobis, LCSW

NEXT WORKSHOP

Jubilee Retreat Center

Abingdon, Virginia

Thursday, March 15 - Tuesday March 20, 2012

Note: Flights can be scheduled to Charlotte, North Carolina or to the Tri-Cities airport, Bristol, Tennessee (about 35 minutes from the Center). If you arrive at Charlotte, we can arrange for transportation to and from the workshop at no cost to you.

Although these workshops were originally designed for people with cancer and their families, experience has shown their value and validity for a much wider group.

The research behind them was done chiefly with cancer patients, but we have found that the results also apply to those with other illnesses involving the immune system.

These workshops are now not only for people dealing with life-threatening illness and those close to them. They are also for those simply wanting to improve their health, and to create more richness, zest and meaning in their lives.

At the heart of the program are the methods and philosophy designed by Larry LeShan. Each staff member is an experienced and talented professional who has been extensively trained by him. The work includes:

  • experiential exercises
  • lectures and discussion
  • meditation training
  • individual sessions with staff members

Workshop Times and Schedule

This workshop will begin with dinner on Tuesday evening and end after lunch on Thursday.
